On Feb. 18 more than 60 containerships sat outside the port of Los Angeles waiting to be scheduled for offload.
The delay on getting imports off loaded affects the efficiency of the supply chain that often starts in China, or other countries in that region and ends in the consumers hands in America.
The trucking industry finds itself in the middle of bottle necks such as this. As the demand for these imports goes up so will the cost of moving these goods to the consumer simply based on truck availability. Truckers are consumers of imports but also an asset to the imports ability to be sold. Although truckers like everyone else may pay more for certain good they also find themselves benefiting from the import shortage because imports play a huge role in keeping alot of truckers busy.
