  • How much money can I make?
    • Our goal is $3750 line-haul per week with potential for more.
      • Our top Producing Owner-Operator earned almost $260,000 in 2015!
      • On a rate/mile basis, our top producing Owner-Operator hit $3.17 per mile (all miles) in 2015!

  • How often will I be home?
    • Normally every 2 to 3 weeks

  • Do I have to tarp?
    • Yes, the majority of our loads will require tarping
      • Our top earning Owner-Operator earned more than $11,000 in tarp fees alone in 2015!

  • How much “sitting” is there?
    • As little as possible, we strive to have all units preplanned for their next move.

  • Where do you run?
    • Our primary areas are the Midwest, South, and Southeast.

  • Do you have electronic logs?
    • Yes. All drivers are required to use electronic logs.

  • Do you have a requirement for model year of tractor?
    • Yes. All tractors (engine) must be model year 2000 or newer.

  • Do I have to go to Canada or Mexico?
    • Mexico, No.
    • Canada, No, although doing so may present potential for increased earnings.

  • Do you have fuel cards?
    • Yes, T-Chek Cards
    • The daily fuel limit is set to 250 gallons or $800.00 whichever comes first

  • Can I get an advance?
    • Yes, Owner Operators can receive 5% of line haul after loading.

  • Do I have to haul “Superloads”?
    • No! This division does not haul “Superloads”
      • You will be provided the opportunity for advancement should this be your desire.

  • Do you have a “Rider” program?
    • Yes, for $22.00/month you can have a passenger older than 14 years old. See Safety to sign up.

  • Is it “Forced Dispatch”?
    • No

  • Do you have customer freight?
    • Yes, our focus is customer freight. We have been around since 1964 and have a large customer base.

  • Do you have a “Pet program”?
    • Yes, for Owner Operators it is your choice at no cost.
      • *Note - We do a lot of work for the Department of Defense as well as freight pickups from the ports. Keep in mind that these customers, among others, may not allow pets on-site.

  • Do you have additional incentives?
    • Yes, all drivers are eligible for safety, recruiting, and Driving for Green incentives, among others.
    • Owner-Operators can also participate in supplemental insurance as well as fuel and equipment maintenance discounts.

  • Do I have to find my own loads?
    • No, our group of Agents and Account Managers work in front of you continually to offer or preplan your next load. ¬†However, “A RESOURCEFUL DRIVER IS A SUCCESSFUL DRIVER”. We encourage T-U Owner-Operators to invest in and learn to use load boards to maximize the success of their businesses!

  • Do you have Direct Deposit?
    • Owner Operators can have compensation put on their fuel card or can be paid by check which can be picked up at the Burns Harbor, IN terminal or can be mailed.

  • How often will I get paid?
    • Owner Operators are paid each Friday as long as their paperwork has been received by 5pm the Monday before settlement day.

  • Will I have an opportunity to progress in my qualification level?
    • Yes. All drivers will be evaluated periodically and given the opportunity to develop skills necessary to advance.
